Presently,
Attorney Maruca’s practice is limited to: disability law, educational plans for
special needs children and young adults, life care plans for adults with
disabilities, elder care, nursing home placement, probate law, estates,
guardianships, mental health advocacy, grant writing for non-profit
organizations, and appeals. Attorney Maruca has extensive fundraising
experience on State, regional, and local levels.
Attorney Maruca has extensive
operations and program experience establishing two special needs educational
programs in the Youngstown area over the past 10 years. These programs have
earned funds in excess of a million dollars through the Ohio Department of
Education. She has also served as a consultant for a Transitional Options in
Post-Secondary Education Program for Individuals with Intellectual and
Developmental Disabilities (TOPS) at Youngstown State University. She has
hosted a local Special Olympics team and a summer camp for high school students
with disabilities. She serves as a part-time faculty member of Youngstown State
University and Eastern Gateway Community College teaching developmental
writing, college writing, and advanced research and writing. She is a report
card mentor for the United Way at Martin Luther King Elementary School in
Youngstown. She is a regular presenter at the YSU English Festival discussing
legal themes in literature for young adults. At the graduate level, she has
earned several awards for professional writing at Youngstown State University. She
is a past board member of the American Heart Association, Rich Center for the
Study and Treatment of Autism, Autism Society Organization, and OCCHA (past
president) serving the minority community in the Mahoning Valley. She is the
past chairman of Continuing Legal Education Committee and past board member of
Certified Grievance Committee for the Mahoning County Bar Association. Attorney
Maruca earned her BA at the University of Pittsburgh, her JD at Duquesne
University, and her MA (English) at Youngstown State University.
